PARKGURU adds a new Social Login feature and Online Booking

The award-winning application PARKGURU, the best app of the year at the Mobile Connected World Conference 2017, upgraded its features by adding Social Login and Online Reservation capabilities. Now, drivers will be able to connect quickly and easily with the application from their mobiles through social networks (Google, Facebook). Also drivers who have not downloaded iOS or Android apps will be able to make bookings using a browser from computers, mobiles and tablets.

The ability of consumers to use their identity from social networks to sign up and connect to applications is critical, as Facebook had 2 billion monthly active users in the second quarter of 2017. With the new version of PARKGURU, drivers can connect with the app by using their favorite Facebook or Google accounts. They will also be able to sign up with their email account or their mobile number. The new feature brings to the drivers the ease of social signups with PARKGURU native apps, with the confidence of data verification.

Also, for all drivers who want the convenience of their computer, they now have the option to make parking reservations from home or office to airports, harbors and the center of Athens and Thessaloniki using a simple web browser. At https://parkguru.com, they will be able to search, compare prices and make reservations for parking. The new feature is accessible from any device (computer, mobile or tablet) using a browser such as Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

PARKGURU participates in the Municipality of Trikala “Smart City” program

PARKGURU, as part of the of the Smart City pilot project implemented by the Municipality of Trikala, participated by contributing its know-how to IOT (internet of things) parking technologies. The results of the project were presented at a special meeting that took place on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in Trikala.

Trikala has the distinction of the first “Smart City” in Greece, making use of advanced technologies that improve the everyday life of its citizens.

Smart parking management will initially cover 45 parking spaces and places for people with disabilities. Through the implementation of PARKGURU technology, citizens will be able to locate free parking, billing, payment, and rewards, while the City will be able to track in real-time parking locations use, through PARKGURU’s advanced reporting and policing applications. Drivers will be informed of available free parking spaces, and if the selected location is occupied by another driver, they will be notified and will automatically be routed to the nearest available parking space.

There will be significant benefits to citizens and the municipality from the implementation of PARKGURU’s technology. First of all, it will improve the standard of living, since the citizens of Trikala will carry out their daily tasks more quickly, while they are urged to use their vehicle with caution. In addition, it is expected to contribute in reducing parking time, relieving traffic and reducing environmental footprint, as it will reduce gas emissions.

PARKGURU Adds Voice Search to its App

PARKGURU lets you find a parking space using your voice.

PARKGURU’s mobile app is designed to help driver find, book and pay for parking easily and quickly. Now with the new updated version of the app for iOS and Android, drivers can search for parking using their voice in 21 different languages.
The new voice search functionality is simple. All drivers need to do is click on the microphone in the app, say their destination and the app returns a list of available parking locations, allowing drivers to compare, reserve and pay for their parking spot in a couple of steps.

PARKGURU wins Innovation Award at the City Challenge Hackathon

The PARKGURU team won the 6th prize, among 36 contestants for its innovative idea, at the recent Hackathon #Smartcity organized by KEDE on May 13-15.

PARKGURU participated with five members of the Research and Development Division and created a prototype application that allows Municipalities to make available all their information, on the City’s controlled parking areas, and to connect with service providers that develop applications aimed at citizens seeking to park their vehicles.

Through the “Smart On Street Parking” platform, Municipalities can share their parking zones and costs for their Municipality, while Service Providers and developers can access this data in the parking applications they provide to drivers.

At the same time of developing the Cloud platform, the PARKGURU team developed 2 Mobile Apps, one for the user (vehicle driver who wants to park) and one for the parking controller.

Yannis Zarifis, leader of the hackathon team and PARKGURU’s Application Development Manager, said: “We are proud for the award PARKGURU received at this Hackathon. The volume of work completed by our team within two days was huge, but today Municipalities have access to source code that is available, works and can be used to create innovative parking services for their citizens“.

The PARKGURU team is participating in City Challenge Hackacton 2017

Athens, May 12, 2017

Part of the PARKGURU Research and Development Team participates in the City Challenge Hackathon(http://crowdhackathon.com/smartcity) organized by the Central Association of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) on May 12, 2017.

The goal of hackathon is to create prototype applications that solve problems that concern Municipalities and, by extension, their citizens.

Under City Challenge Hackathon, the PARKGURU team will create a platform, specifically a marketplace, that allows Municipalities to “connect” with service providers and developers who develop controlled parking applications.

Through the SOSP (Smart On Street Parking) platform, Municipalities will be able to import or control the zones of controlled parking (upload) via a simple graphical user interface, to determine the cost and time of stay and to have access to real-time System reporting data. Similarly, service providers and developers providing or deploying parking applications will be able to access through API (Application Programming Interface) the data that each Municipality has made available, to develop new applications or to include them in existing solutions.

“The Smart On Street Parking is a platform that will make it easier for Municipalities to easily connect with multiple providers and different parking applications to provide quality services to their citizens. It is also an open platform that aims to create a homogeneity and structure in city data and to fuel innovation in city-based parking ” Yannis Zarifis, leader of the team at Hackathon and Director of Research and Development PARKGURU, said, “We are looking forward to all the contestants and we are working to make cities smarter and more friendly to everyone.”
